Our Initiatives

Food Justice Gardens

Why do people go hungry in our world, when we have pantries and refrigerators stocked full of food – enough to waste? How can we ensure vegetable rich diets for all in winter climates? What are sustainable food practices, local and global? Are we blind to the effects of our eating habits?
These are issues of food justice that we are working to address.

Soup Kit Project

The Soup Kit Project is a collaboration with the Ottauquechee Health Center, the North Chapel Universalist Church, Willing Hands and local chef Ken Woodhead. The idea is to provide hearty and nutritious food to community members in need, specifically senior citizens and others who simply really appreciate a quart of homemade soup. We average about 80 quarts of homemade soups per week that get distributed to three communities of need.

Anti-Cabin-Fever Dinners

A CTWK classic, our anti-cabin-fever dinners have hosted the community by providing delicious, affordable, 3 course meals every Wednesday during the winter months. For this fundraiser we work in partnership with local chefs and restaurants to prepare and serve the dinner. All of the proceeds support our Bosque Para Siempre reforestation work in Costa Rica.

Community Jobs

Meeting the needs of our community is at the heart of our mission. We work to respond to basic human needs that come to us as direct requests or referrals from individuals, doctors, and community organizations. We like to provide friendship and support along with a helping hand and like to think that no job is too small or too big. If you or anyone you know needs an extra hand at some point, please be in touch.

Climate Justice

We are keenly aware that climate change is one of the biggest threats to our existence. In response to this, we as Change the World Kids aim to raise awareness about sustainability, improve our environment by increasing biodiversity wherever we can. We believe in helping to create climate solutions towards a just transition and advocating for local energy solutions for the town of Woodstock.

Holiday Hearts

The winter holiday season is absolutely magical, but some children and families need a hand making one part of the magic happen. Every year, we collaborate with The Haven, LISTEN and the congregation at the North Chapel Universalist Church to ensure that all of the children and families that are either staying at The Haven or have come on hard financial times receive gifts during Christmas time.

New Chapter: Youth Empowerment and Action

We launched a new chapter of CTWK in the Sharon and South Royalton area in collaboration with the Resilience Hub, a group of like minded organizations including Building a Local Economy (BALE).
